About the Designer

For over 20 years California native Joslyn West has been using vintage materials to provide her customer-base quality, handmade fashions and accessories.
Joslyn's creative journey began as a child. While accompanying her mother to various flea markets throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, Joslyn developed an appreciation for the vintage textiles she would come across. Fascinated by the amazing craftsmanship and needlework Joslyn was inspired to learn more about the lace, linens, blankets and other fabrics she encountered. During this period Joslyn noticed how a small defect could greatly devalue an otherwise beautiful piece of material. Seeing an opportunity to work around these blemishes and create new life for these materials Joslyn began designing pillowcases that highlighted the beauty of the fabrics. Joslyn began selling her pillows and other bedding at various craft shows and makers markets throughout the region and quickly developed a loyal following. Encouraged, Joslyn expanded into clothing and found herself at the forefront of the upcycled fashion movement.
Fast forward decades later Joslyn West Designs continues to create unique, handmade upcycled fashions and accessories. From whimsical cashmere children's sweaters to stylish linen tops and jackets. From needlepoint tote bags to bedding. All one of a kind and handmade from her base in Northern California.

In 2022 Joslyn was the subject of a San Jose Mercury News article focusing on her business and personal history. In February of 2024 Joslyn was featured on a local CBS news segment focusing again on her craft and passion for raising awareness about the benefits of sustainability in fashion. Several weeks later the segment was broadcast nationally on the CBS Evening News. Additionally, in 2024 Joslyn was invited to give a presentation to students at Stanford University.
